Westport's cutting edge technology provides exceptional performance as well as reduced environmental impact and lower operating costs in the light duty class.

Why Westport

Professional development -- in addition to building your skills in sales, business development and/or marketing, you'll learn about an industry and markets that are new to you. We think you'll find our innovative compressed natural gas (CNG) technologies intriguing. In the near future your responsibilities will expand. As this initiative succeeds we may need to grow the team and we'll be looking for proven performers to move into leadership roles.

Strategic impact -- you'll play an influential role in the early stages of a new, green industry. If your creativity is feeling cramped and stifled in your current role, Westport it will have a great deal of freedom. We're not burdened with a heavy bureaucracy, so your good ideas can come to life quickly.

Growth and performance -- Westport has the largest light-duty natural gas vehicle market presence in North America, and that is a key enabler of strong growth. Our 2013 income, at $134 million, was up over 2012. Our success is driven by strong market fundamentals, valuable strategic and business alliances, a highly capital-efficient business model, deep and rich intellectual property, and a solid and experienced senior leadership team.

More green for less green -- not only is CNG more environmentally responsible than gasoline or diesel, it is also safer and extremely cost effective. CNG is also domestic and abundant. These are just some of the reasons there are some 16 million CNG-powered vehicles currently traveling roads all across the globe.

Key partnerships -- strategic partnerships strengthen our business. In the light-duty market, Westport supplies or has strategic relationships with seven of the world's top ten automotive OEMs. To give you an example, as a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM), we have developed an advanced, fully integrated, bi-fuel system that meets or exceeds OEM standards.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary and discretionary bonus, we offer comprehensive benefits that include all you would expect plus a few pleasant surprises, such as a company match on our 401(k) plan, training and career development programs, and generous paid time off.

Pictured: Westport is the largest Qualified Vehicle Modifier partner in Ford's QVM program, providing OEM-quality engineering and design. Our compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling system offers equivalent fuel economy, fuel capacity, and mileage compared to the gasoline-powered F-59 stripped chassis. The F-59 stripped chassis is a prime choice for operators of local delivery fleets.

Keys to Success

The essence of this position is convincing fleet operators to do something different. Our value proposition is compelling, but there are obstacles to overcome. For example, conversion requires a significant capital investment. In addition, not everyone is knowledgeable about natural gas vehicles. From a marketing standpoint you'll have your work cut out for you. However, if you're the person we're looking for, this is the kind of challenge you enjoy.

The pace is fast, there are a lot of moving parts, and sometimes it can feel chaotic. Another challenge for you will be to tame that chaos. You'll need strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and an even temper. A sense of humor also will be helpful.

We own the lion's share of our market, but we're still a smaller organization. That means we all "wear multiple hats," and pitch in with a strong sense of ownership. If you're coming from a highly structured large corporation, you will need to get used to an environment in which you are empowered to make decisions. If you're like us, that's the way you prefer it, but you also recognize that greater autonomy also comes with greater responsibility.
